Frutillar has among its characteristics a peaceful environment for reading and respect for nature together with the cultural

activities which the Theatre of the Lake performs and the Musical Weeks of Frutillar.
Moreover, there are sport activities like sail navigation offered by the Cofradia Nautica of Frutillar and the Hunting and
Fishing Club. A visit to the park of the University of Chile and the German Museum will give the visitor an idea of the forests and parks located in the area. Recognizing native species from Patagonia constitutes a real challenge for the visitor.
Photography, painting, music and handcrafts, long walks, the romance of tea and barbecues are a part of the calm atmosphere which comes from this place around the Llanquihue Lake, inserted in one of the most beautiful bays on the borders of the Osorno volcano.
“This rising establishment will soon become the jewel of the south of the republic,” as stated by Vicente Pérez Rosales in 1583. That spirit remains today, each time new activities are carried out into the bay.”
